AOP LANGUEDOC - MONTPEYROUX
ORGANIC WINE
On the Way to Saint Jacques de Compostela, just outside the "Hameau du Barry" in Montpeyroux André Suquet and Jo Lynch, winegrowers, have created in 2000 " Villa Dondona" on 5.5 ha of original vines planted on 15 ha of virgin scrubland. They live in the old Hospital of the 14th century behind the church.
The "red" Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre vines are just above the ground level with a number of 8000 vine branches/ha; Vermentino is cultivated in a pergola of 2.6 meters high!
The Carignan, Cinsault and Grenache Blanc are spread over 3.5 hectares of old vines.
Recommended by P. Roque and S. Prabonnaud, Jo Lynch and André Suquet adopted an organic approach.
Jo participated in the creation of wines and adorns the bottles of his works: a zebra, an orang-utan, flowers and southern insects. An exhibition is also visible in the African Safari in Sigean in the Aude.
For the little story, DONDONE is a charming and seductive sovereign but also knows how to show authority. The wines of the area seek harmony between land and grapes, raisins and wine and men who produce and those who consume it.
Awarded one of the 100 best wines of France in 2014.
