COTES DU RHONE
Domaine La Pierre-Laine is located in the Rhone Valley between Montélimar and Orange, in the small city of Saint Marcel d'Ardèche. The estate is a family property of 20 hectares in Côtes du Rhône Villages and Côtes du Rhône.
The farm is a Provencal farmhouse located in the middle of our vineyard. In this enclosure reigns the calm of nature and the passion of the men who work there.
The terroir could be defined as the interaction between the soil - the plant - the climate and the Man.
Cultivated in organic farming, the soils of the farm are located on one of the highest hills of the commune between the river Rhone and the river Ardeche. This is why the estate has one of the most beautiful hillsides of Saint Marcel d'Ardèche. The soils are mainly clay-limestone with red pebbles on the surface and in depth.
Then the climate is Mediterranean. This climate is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. These climatic conditions allow the Rhône vines to give their best qualitative expressions.
For the vines, Pierre Marc selected the most suitable grape varieties for this region. For red wine, the grape varieties are Grenache noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault. For rosé, the peculiarity is the presence of Pink Clairette with Black Grenache and Cinsault. For white, another peculiarity, the Clairette white and the Viognier which joined recently.
Finally, the Pierre Marc Allegre and his know-how intervene much in the soil.
For him, the aim is that his work respects the best the expression of the three previous elements so that his wine is a true "Wine of Terroir".
